Our Aims:

  • To provide a welcoming, happy and stimulating learning environment, where children and parents will feel safe and secure.
  • To make our playgroup genuinely accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community.
  • To show respectful awareness of all the major events in the lives of children and families in the playgroup.
  • To provide an equal opportunity playgroup and respect that all children are individuals.
  • To provide a well balanced session of activities, which promote and encourage the six areas of Curriculum Learning for the Early Years Foundation Stage.

These areas include:

  1. Personal, Social and Emotional Development.
  2. Communication, Language and Literacy.
  3. Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy.
  4. Knowledge and Understanding of the World.
  5. Physical Development.
  6. Creative Development.

‘Children who attend our playgroup will be respected as individuals and their potential recognised, valued and nurtured’
Justine Palmer, Manager

We have a dedicated team of staff, and when a child joins Bobtails Playgroup, one staff member will become your child’s keyworker. This means they will oversee your child’s personal, social and emotions needs. They will also observe, encourage and help develop your child’s learning by providing rich and interesting play opportunities.

Your child’s key worker prepares a scrap book updated regularly, recording your child’s achievements. This is yours to keep and treasure after your child has graduated from Bobtails Playgroup.

Children are grouped according to their age and developmental ability into groups, called Bunnies and Rabbits. By doing this we ensure that children benefit from consistent relationships with staff and that their individual learning needs are met. The  Foundation Stage Learning Journey’s are followed, enabling children to learn through practical, fun and valuable play.

Towards the end of their stay in Rabbits, the children cover the Jolly Phonics method of learning the alphabet. This all helps in the transition to ‘big school’.

We understand what it is like to leave your child at playgroup, therefore we provide you with lots of information and photographs of what they have been up to. You are also welcome to come in and help for a session and really get involved with the children.

All children are required to wear our uniform sweatshirt/T-shirt as it makes them feel part of something special.

Security is very strict at Bobtails and these important and confidential details will be given to you when your child starts at Bobtails.

Healthy eating

Children’s health and welfare needs are met exceptionally well.

Drinking water and fresh milk are readily available and children enjoy ample portions of fresh fruit and raw vegetables. During the lunch club session children and staff sit together to eat, creating a homely and relaxed environment.
